Leek Town take a rest from league action as they visit Shropshire outfit Market Drayton Town at the Greenfield Sports Ground for a Saturday afternoon fixture in the Buildbase FA Trophy.
Summary
Last Saturday, the Blues had another good away win at Ramsbottom United in the Pitching In NPL West, eventually overcoming a stubborn home team 2-0. It was another promising away performance, in which Leek Town created many good chances but only converted two goals, the Blues’ goals on the afternoon coming from Olly Harrison and Will Saxon.
Blues manager Neil Baker will now look to get another positive result away in the FA Trophy against the Gingerbread Men. Baker will be able to pick from an almost full Leek Town squad for the trip up to Market Drayton with only defender Scott Wara still injured.
As for Market Drayton Town, they have struggled for goals so far this season and are currently 20th in the NPL West table, the Gingerbread Men disappointingly losing at home 1-7 to second placed Mossley last time at the Greenfield Sports Ground.
Last Time Out
The Blues have played Market Drayton FC on 27 occasions, winning 18 times drawing 5 matches and losing 5 times.
The last time they met the Gingerbread Men was earlier this season, on 30 August 2021. On that day it finished with a 1-0 win for the ten men of Leek Town, Will Saxon getting a first half goal (27th minute) and loanee Zach Clarke receiving a red card in the second period, attendance 186.
