Leek Started well and in the early exchanges of the first half they had most of the play. Leek’s defensive four of Emma Smith, Charlotte Bromley, Isabel Wretham and Molly Shaw again had a good game and Hednesford United found them difficult to break down.
In the later stages of the first half Alice Naden struck the ball home for Leek and after this Leek’s midfield began to take control.
Half time Leek Town 1-0 Hednesford United.
In the second half Leek’s central midfield duo of Kirsty Ryder and Amber Stanway took control with good runs down left and right flanks from Elise Skelding and Hannah Newman, this including long kicks from the Leek goalkeeper enabled Alice Naden to have several more chances to get at the Hednesford defence.
Alice Naden scored two more goals one of which followed a good determined run from Kirsty Ryder. Eleanor Degg also hit the Hednesford crossbar.
It was not all Leek though, Hednesford had some good chances and Leek’s goalkeeper Hannah Austin made two outstanding saves.
All the Leek Players gave 100% and should be proud of their performances.
Full time Leek Town 3-0 Hednesford United.
Leek Town U15 girls would like to thank sponsors Protech Electrical Limited for their continued support and for the new strip provided for the start of the season.
