Leek Town 4-0 up at half time after a breathtaking first half were forced to spend most of the second half defending against a Leafield comeback.

Leek Town hosted Leafield at Birchall on a cold and wet Saturday morning in this Central Warwickshire Premier League fixture.
Leek started the game well and on five minutes won a corner taken by Isabel Wretham, the ball was met by Kirsty Ryder who opened the scoring for Leek with a good header.

Lucy Kelsall and Elise Skelding were causing the visitors problems with excellent wing play and after a good run Elise Skelding's determination paid off when she got the ball to Kirsty Ryder who hit a fierce shot from 20 yards to beat the Leafield keeper and make it 2-0 for Leek. Ryder had to leave the field shortly after with a foot injury after a great 20 minute display of attacking football.

Leafield's early attacks were thwarted by Mollie Shaw and then Charlotte Bromley and on the one occasion that Leafield broke through Leek Keeper Hannah Austin made a good save. Amber Stanway and Becky Rothwell were in control in midfield with the excellent Katie Maya linking play to the final third. Amber Stanway then went on a run from the halfway line, going past three players found herself in the Leafield penalty area and slotted the ball past the keeper to make it 3-0 to Leek.

Leafield then mounted an attack and an excellently timed tackle from Chloe Gerrity cleared the danger, Alice Naden then got the ball out to Leek right back Emma Smith who ran down the right and put in a good cross which was met by Lucy Kelsall to make it 4-0 to Leek.

Half time Leek Town 4-0 Leafield.

Leafield had only lost one game so far this season came out for the second half with a great determination and ten minutes in pulled a goal back. Leek then had another good period play and Sian Bush passed the ball into Megan Jones who went past a player and fed Katie Maya who shot just wide.

Then a looping cross come shot from Leafield found its way into the back of the Leek net and with 20 minutes still to play this gave the visitors the lift they needed. The next ten minutes was Leafield's best part of the game and Leek were at full stretch to keep them out. With nine minutes left to play Leafield scored again and now amazingly there was only one goal in it.

A very determined last few minutes from Leek was enough and they managed to play the game out for a well deserved 4-3 win.
