Ladies through to next Preliminary round of FA cup where they will meet Shrewsbury Town away on 22nd Sept.

The ladies made the journey to Kidderminster for this FA cup preliminary round game and got off to a great start when a good ball in from Katie Gibbons found the head of Chantelle Gallagher on 6 minutes.
Leek continued to push hard and should of had a second when a through ball from Lucy Goodfellow put the Leek strikers in again but good work by the Kidderminster goalkeeper caused Michaela Lockett’s shot to go wide of the post.
Kidderminster then grew into the game and pressed Leek hard resulting in an equalising goal. The home team then looked for a second and the Leek back four were forced to work hard to keep the scores level. Kidderminster looked like getting a striker in again but a great tackle by Gina Rushton prevented this and Emma Smith cleared the danger. 2 minutes Later Chloe Brown sent winger Lockett on her way again but her shot again was just wide of the target.
Kidderminster on the attack again and this time captain Naomi Sale-Hancock with the interception and then played a good ball out to Jenny Hesketh who stormed down the right hand side getting a good ball into the box for Gibbons to take a strike which was blocked by a defender before going for a corner.
Kidderminster got a good strike away on the Leek goal from 18 yards which was well saved by Hannah Austin in the Leek goal.
The home side now having a good spell got themselves in front with a well taken goal from 18 yards which Austin couldn’t quite get a hand to.
Half Time. Kidderminster 2-1 Leek Town

Leek introduced Alana Copeland for the second half and she was immediately in the thick of the action breaking up play and playing the ball forward. Leek now having a good spell pushed forward but couldn’t find the equaliser. A second substitution for Leek saw Amelia Robb enter the game and she had an immediate impact following a ball in from a corner fired the ball into the opposition net to make it 2-2 and game on.
Several minutes later and a great cross from Lockett found the head of Morris running in and she powered the ball into the net to put Leek in front for the second time. 70 minutes in and things got even better for Leek when Lockett again found Gallagher who smashed the ball into the net to give Leek some breathing space.
Leek sat back and Kidderminster came at them with some really good attacking play and great defensive work by Leek.
A few minutes before the end and Kidderminster efforts were rewarded with a goal after a Leek mistake.
The final few minutes were very hectic with Leek defending their Lead and using forward Liv Mountford as the target to release the pressure. Mountford brought on for the last 20 minutes proved to be a very willing runner and came close with a long range effort which the goalkeeper did well to hold on to. Leek played the last few minutes out and were pleased to progress to the next round.

Leek squad: Hannah Austin, Chloe Brown, Naomi Sale-Hancock, Gina Rushton, Emma Smith, Rhian Morris, Lucy Goodfellow, Michaela Lockett, Jenny Hesketh, Katie Gibbons, Chantelle Gallagher, Alana Copeland, Amelia Robb, Liv Mountford.
