LADIES 1ST TEAM: 6 WINS OUT OF 6 IN ALL COMPETITIONS

Leek struggled to get their normal passing game going early on but still had a few half chances on the opposition goal which were well dealt with by the goalkeeper.
Coventry then broke through into the Leek penalty area and Leek keeper Beth Cottrell forced the striker wide and the chance was gone with Chloe Brown clearing the ball from danger.
With Leek pushing forward Michaela Lockett found Chantelle Gallagher who turned and had a strike on goal which was just over the opposition crossbar.
A good move by Coventry was broken up by Leek captain Naomi Sale-Hancock. Gina Rushton then went on a run which took her all the way to the opposition box before getting a shot away which was blocked by a defender and picked up by Gallagher who fired into the net to put Leek 1-0 up in the 27th minute.
5 minutes later a Coventry shot was blocked by Emma Smith and rebounded back to the striker who forced keeper Cottrell to dive full length to keep Leek in front.
Leek had a couple more chances late in the half but couldn’t convert.

Leek started the second half with a bit more purpose and after a good challenge by Kirsty Ryder the ball fell to Rhian Morris who played the ball forward to Gallagher with the resultant shot shaving the wrong side of the post.
The game was now becoming more competitive in the second half and both teams were playing better football. Amelia Robb found Liv Mountford who won a corner, Lockett took the corner and Gallagher converted to give Leek some breathing space. Just a few minutes Later Lucy Goodfellow found Gallagher again and she turned provider for Katie Gibbons to give the hosts a 3-0 advantage.
Coventry then had a good spell where Leek had to clear off the goal line and also another spectacular save by Cottrell in the Leek goal.
Gallagher then put the game beyond the visitors running through on goal and chipping the keeper for her hat trick and Leek’s fourth goal.
Leek had two further chances late on with Gallagher again just wide and then Alice Painter putting Ryder through on goal with the goalkeeper saving bravely.
