Leek returned to league action after a month delay due to lockdown, to put in a five star performance to put Leek back top of the table. Leek controlled the game throughout enjoying large spells of possession and having the majority of shots on goal. Leek took control of the game with five first half goals which included Rehanne Mellor scoring direct from a corner.
Worcester City had a much better second half scoring a good goal to bring the score back to 5-1. The Worcester City goalkeeper saved three 1v1 chances on her goal in the second half.
Leek started the game with three players making their debut including keeper Connie Shutt, who progressed up from the reserves, who had a very strong game but was unfortunate not to keep a clean sheet, with a long range strike beating the Leek keeper. Another reserve player featured in the second half with Chloe Cotterill performing well against a strong Worcester side. The last debutant was Holly Fowell, who Leek signed from City of Stoke Women during lockdown, who showed her technical abilities and range of passing to break down Worcester’s defence.
A long journey for the Leek team but pleased to put in a good performance and come away with three points.
Leek now prepare for a home league game against Solihull Ladies United this coming Sunday 20th.
