Volunteer Task Description

Leicester Hockey Club adheres to the England Hockey Safeguarding and Protecting Young People Policy (www.englandhockey.co.uk). The Club Welfare Officer is Neil Murray. If you have any comments or concerns you wish to bring to his attention please email murrayn@leicestergrammar.org.uk.

The Club Rules and Standards Relating to Pitchside Conduct are available at www.leicesterhockeyclub.co.uk. There is also a Code of Conduct for Parents\Guardians. In particular, a parent\guardian should always be present during the training of primary-aged children. Please make the Coaches aware of any relevant medical conditions and ensure your child is equipped with shin pads and a mouth guard.

The Code of Conduct for Coaches, Club Officials and Volunteers is available at www.leicesterhockeyclub.co.uk. In particular, the Club have invested heavily in supporting members to complete coaching and umpiring courses to help create a suitable environment in which to develop young players to an elite standard. In the future high calibre coaches will also be invited to enhance the existing provision.

Leicester Hockey Club Volunteers are bound by the England Hockey Code of Ethics and Behaviour (www.englandhockey.co.uk). The Club Equity Policy Statement is available on the Club website. New members are always welcome subject to available places. Prompt payment of fees is a help and all funds raised are reinvested in the Club.

The Club Emergency, Incident or Accident Policies are available on the Club website. In particular, there is always a First Aid Pack available during training and matches. There is usually a First Aider present at training. The landline in the Pavilion is available to call for an ambulance (the barrier to the pitches is never locked to allow access).

Leicester Hockey Club has a formal long-term agreement with Leicester Grammar School. We have excellent access to some of the best hockey facilities in the UK including a water-based pitch, sand-based pitch, indoor sports-hall, changing rooms and hospitality facilities. Hockey activity takes place all year with a particular focus on preparing young players for participation in the Club league teams.
