A swift return to league action following Saturday's success in the FA Vase

Neil Lyne reshuffled his squad for Long Buckby's first ever visit to Leicester Road Stadium.

Long Buckby were promoted from UCL Division 1 via the unweighted points per game method based on their last 2 seasons league performances and to date have had a steady start to the season having won 3 and drew 3 sitting in a creditable mid-table position.

The match started on an even keel with Hinckley finding their rhythm quickest and enforcing their control over the game. It wasn't long before Hinckley started to camp themselves in Long Bucky's defensive third but it was 12 mins before the first real attempt on goal from Matty Langham.

Hinckley continued to create chances with the ball almost permanently in Long Buckby's 18-yard box without the final finish being able to be applied. Tom Smith broke the deadlock on 23 mins to put Hinckley 1-0 up. Hinckley continued to create chance after chance and it was Callum Earls that forced his way into the box and scored from an acute angle on 37 mins to make it 2-0 going into half-time.

Half-time: Hinckley LRFC 2 Long Buckby 0

The second half start very much the same as the first half finished with Hinckley keeping possession for long periods and creating chance after chance. It was Jo Lyne who got on the end of Callum Earls cross to tap in and put Hinckley 3-0 up and firmly in control of the game after 52 mins.

Danny Jenno then intercepted a Long Buckby punt forward which Simon Alcott headed down to Dom Brennan who slipped in Jake Brown who whose pure pace and power brushed aside the Long Buckby defender to feed in Sam Munton wide on the right. Sam Munton teased and beat his man and crossed for the quick footed Jake Brown whose poked shot hit the post and deflected across the goal for Tom Smith to tap in at the other post to put Hinckley 4 up after 69 mins.

Hinckley continued to press and create chances and the game fizzled out without another goal being scored.
