Back to back wins for Leicester Road U14's and another 7 goal haul to go with it

For the second Saturday running the U14’s faced difficult conditions with high winds threatening to make the game a non-event, however the young Leicester Road side were not going to let the weather ruin the game and hit 7 for the second week running and recording their largest margin of victory this season.

A brace each for Collins (for the second week running) and Suart, along with goals from Todd, Bricknell and Dean.

Leicester Road picked up where they left off from last Saturday playing with high intensity, moving the ball quickly and pressing the opposition hard at every opportunity, their hard work paying off when they took the lead after 5 minutes, with Martin again providing the crucial assist for Collins to fire home his 22nd goal of the season. The home side continued to dominate proceedings but had to wait until the 25th minute to double the lead. Todd using the wind curled a sublime 30 yard pass around the defence for Collins to take down on his chest and slot home for his second of the game.

The home side were relentless in attack and but for some good goalkeeping would have added several more. The third came in the 32nd minute, with a slick move coming down the left hand side, Suart slotting the ball through to Dean who made no mistake from close range. 3-0 at half time against the wind was testament to the home sides dominance.

The visitors did not make many forays into the home half but 90 seconds after the kick off they had pulled one back, could this be a comeback? In short no, the reaction from the home side was swift and quick 4 minutes later, Suart finishing off a nice move again by the home team, 3 minutes later it was 5 Suart turned provider with a nice one-two move with Todd who crossed the ball from deep to see the wind carry it into the top corner.

The home team were relentless creating opportunity after opportunity and again despite some inspired goalkeeping from the visitors keeper they would have had several more, the pick of the saves was a 35 yard effort from Todd that looked destined for the top corner however at full stretch the keeper managed to get fingertips to it to turn it round for a corner.

The home team were rewarded again in the 65th minute when Todd smashed in a 23 yard free kick that the keeper could only deflect straight into the path of Bricknell who volleyed home for the 6th of the day. 4 minutes late Suart completed his brace with an exquisite half volley finishing off another wonderful passage of play for the home team.

With 2 games left the young Leicester Road side will be looking to carry the momentum into next week’s home game against CS Colts.
