No need to coach or provide background work

Leigh RUFC are looking for a volunteer to take the lead in encouraging players to participate in a walking rugby program at Round Ash Park.
We are looking for someone to encourage people of all ages and sex to participate in the program.
No need to coach or provide refreshments etc. This will be taken care of by Sale Sharks coaching staff and the club.

The Sale Sharks Walking Rugby programme will be a 21-week programme and will have a Sale Sharks coach running the sessions.
Walking Rugby runs for an hour, then we try and persuade everyone to head to the clubhouse for a half an hour social.

WHAT IS WALKING RUGBY
As the name suggests, running is forbidden as is passing the ball higher than shoulder height. There are also no high tackles – or indeed any tackles – and, crucially, no scrums, rucks or mauls.
Instead players are allowed to hold onto the ball for no more than three seconds before passing, keeping the pace moving and giving the other team an opportunity to intercept. No running allowed.

WHO IS IT FOR
Walking Rugby is targeted at anyone aged 50+ but this is not rigid and parents of open age and youth players are openly welcome.
Sessions are adapted to cater for all backgrounds and experiences of Rugby.
Veterans of the game are as welcome as newcomers.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING/WEAR?
All equipment is provided. Participants must wear suitable clothing. Sessions will take place outside . No studs/boots are required, just trainers.

WHO DELIVERS THE SESSION?
The Walking Rugby sessions will be delivered by coaches from Sale Sharks.

The feel of the sessions will be very much social and fun, whilst providing physical activity.
