Report kindly written and submitted by Alex Middleton-Adams.
On an overcast but mostly dry day Leigh seconds travelled to play at altitude against a lowly L'Boro team.
Leigh however, didn't get it all their own way in a topsy turvy game played on a heavy pitch.
Leigh opened the scoring on 17 mins after good runs by Andy Newton and then Alex Middleton-Adams who fed Marcus Morris-Williams to score. 5-0
The L'boro backs, who looked too good to play second team rugby, came back to score in the corner to make it 5-5. However, more forward pressure by the Leigh pack, resulted in a try for Paul Hampson to crash over near the sticks. Elliot Ryan converted to make it 12-5 at halftime.
Leigh extended the lead 10 minutes into the second half when strong running by Ethan
Gornall resulted in quick ball along the backs, where Andy Newton dummied and scored out wide. Ryan converted. 19-5.
Five minutes later Leigh secured the game after sublime, out of the back door handling skills by Hampson (no that isn't a typing error or a case of mistaken identity, Hampo really did that) sent Ryan in for a fine 40m score. 24-5.
Again L'Boro came back to score following pressure by their big pack whilst Costello was in the sin bin. 24-10.
All in all a great match with a large good natured crowd, fine refereeing, against a hard but fair L'Boro side, to maintain Leigh's 100% winning record.
