Game 8/42.

Leiston host Biggleswade Town on Tuesday night with Ian Cornforth taking charge as manager after Stuart Boardley resigned on Monday.

Ironically, Boardley started his own tenure last season at home to Biggleswade Town in his first match, and Leiston went on to win 3-0, thanks to goals from Jake Reed, Christy Finch and Matt Blake. Cornforth was caretaker manager when after Glen Driver departed last season and took charge of the Blues beating St Ives Town 2-0 away from home and also the away game against VCD Athletic when the Blues won 3-1 in the FA Trophy.

Cornforth has the same squad as the one that went down 5-1 to Stourbridge at the weekend. Kyle Hammond and Harry Knights are still out injured. Last season, the Blues beat ‘The Waders’ 3-0 on home soil (as previously mentioned) and were also 2-1 victors away from home in March, with late goals via a Rob Eagle penalty and a Will Davies strike.

Leiston can move up to third from bottom with a win and go above Hitchin Town and St Ives Town in the table.

Biggleswade missed out on the play-offs last season after being in the hunt for most of the campaign. They are have won their last two league games, and currently sit 10th with 10 points from 7 matches, but have a goal difference of -5. They defeated St Neots Town in an FA Cup Replay 2-0 last Tuesday and play at home to Ware next, who the Blues lost to in the FA Cup ten days ago.
