The U18’s made it two league wins on the bounce meaning they have now moved up to 7th (out of 11 teams) in the league table. An early move that involved Joe Murphy and George Fricker ended with Owen Pierce having the first shot of the match but he shot straight at away keeper Ollie Rawnsley. Leiston were having all the play with Witness Mhango and Toby Chenery having efforts before Aaron McGuckin’s good run ended with Rawnsley saving well and Joe Murphy’s follow up shot blocked. Hayden Ling, Isaac Page and George Fricker also had chances that went begging. Cops’ first chance came when Jake Piotroswki shot from distance and Harvey Garnham in the home goal, playing as Brandon Ling was unavailable, parried away and Cops couldn’t net the rebound.
George Fricker was denied by Ollie Rawnsley at the start of the second half. Sub Kai Fletcher came on and set up a chance for Hayden Ling, and then after a through ball he went round the keeper but could only hit the foot of the post. Fletcher had another opportunity a little later but Rawnsley made a good save. Leiston had more decent attempts but the break through did come in the 64th minute. Joe Murphy swung the ball in after a short corner and Kai Fletcher side footed home well. Cops did have a good chance to level however Ben Ellison was off target with his strike. Owen Pierce could have made the game safe in the 89th minute but could only fire into the arms of Rawnsley.
