Letcombe have notoriously suffered from inconsistent form since their famous 2002-2003 season when they finished runners up to an 'overpaid' Wantage Town and this season seems no different. The young side have only won two of their last five games and have struggled to match their headline grabbing start to the season. Saying this they still sit second in the league and in a perfect position to bring high flying Hardwicke back down to earth. Over the years Letcombe have always struggled to raise their game against the lesser teams and then have produced the goods against the 'so called' better teams. In true Letcombe style it wouldn't be a surprise if they were to return from the Gloucester based side with all three points; with the fire power Letcombe have going forward anything can happen.
Hardwicke have made a very impressive start to the season since joining the Hellenic League and have picked up some great results along the way. They have joined the Hellenic League Division 1 West from the Gloucestershire County League which they won by a massive 17 points. They also picked up the League cup and were defeated finalists in the GFA Challenge Trophy. It's fair to say Hardwicke will prove very difficult opposition this weekend and considering they have only conceded one goal in their opening nine league fixtures it will take something special to break down what seems like a resolute defence. Letcombe however are the leagues highest scorers netting an average of 4 goals per game and they travel with the leagues top goal scorer, Richie Claydon. The game is certain to provide entertainment as both teams realise this top of the table clash is crucial to their title hopes, even at this stage of the season.
Letcombe travel with a couple of injury problems Robbie Fairchild is struggling with a ankle injury picked up a few weeks ago and is likely to miss out; whilst Mark Denny and Scott Hooper are still nursing knocks but look set to travel. Letcombe will also be without Ian Whatley who has work commitments.
Squad: Vaux, Patten, Webb, De La Coze, Broad, Tabor, Roberts, Hooper, Pendell, Richardson, Denny, Horswell, Claydon.
