An excellent turn out of musicians at the team practice on Monday evening the 23rd April was supplemented by guitarist James Tipping. It is hoped that James will join the ranks in the ’band’ and become a Morris Man alongside brother Bert and father Andrew who are both dancers.
Also in attendance was ‘new signing’, James Tween, who hails from Gloucester and was a musician and dancer with the Lassington Oak Morris Men. An accomplished Cotswold Morris dancer, James is also proficient with the melodeon.
Following a spell when few recruits were to be had, the team have recently been joined by John Farnden, who was with the Kennet Morris Men, who are based in Shinfield near Reading, and Peter Molnar, who was a dancer in his home town of Szeged in Hungary.
Of-course, total beginners are more than welcome. So if there is anyone out there interested in preserving our English heritage of traditional music, song and dance. Why not give us a try. It’s great fun. Just ring our secretary Mike Bailey on 01772 337999.
