Not Only But Also
INFORMATION SHEET w/c MONDAY, 13th MAY, 2019
Very Many Thanks.......
...first of all to the 5 musicians and 7 dancers who turned out at Scorton on Bank Holiday Monday. Ideal weather and big crowds of very appreciative people. The organisers were most appreciative of our efforts too and we can look to being invited back for next year’s event.
For some of us it was a treat to meet up again with Sue Seed. She’s now a Rev. and in charge of the parishes of Aughton, Halton and Slyne, north of Lancaster. She used to be a teacher at Fulwood HS and the fiddler in the Scratch Band, which was organised by Neil Chadwick.
The photos with the Morris Minor Club vehicles prompted the possible idea of a Morris Minor/Morris dancer theme for a calendar. Apparently the MM Club do produce a calendar.
A big thank you also to the impressive turn out of 5 + 9 at Balshaw’s HS last Saturday. Lovely weather for us, sizeable audiences and, again, we impressed the organisers!
Wednesday, 15th May.......
.....Len will be visiting Horwich PMMM at their practice to see what can be learnt from their recent recruiting activities. Is anyone available to go with him?
Saturday, 18th May Morris Taster Day @ Leyland Cricket Club PR25 1HB
Almost everyone is available for this event. Thank you for that.
We need a final push to get leaflets out and about.
Kit: There has been some discussion as to whether we attend in full kit or the blue T-shirts. Thoughts to be shared and a decision to be made TONIGHT – and Mike will contact anyone not at the practice to let them know.
Parking: Preferably at the far end of the cricket field or on neighbouring roads.
Meet: FOR 10:30 am START
Monday, 20th May
Practice night.
Programme:
We appear to have enough to fulfil the bookings for Monday, 3rd June (evening) at Newton-le-Willows for a National Association of Women’s Clubs event and Monday, 10th June (afternoon) at a Chorley nursing home.
However.......for Saturday, 15th June at Leyland Festival; Saturday, 13th July at Fox Lane Club President’s Day and Saturday, 27th July at Coppull, Springfield Nursing Home, it’s looking unlikely we shall have sufficient numbers.
As things stand at present that would leave us without any outings in July or August. Perhaps this would be an opportunity to dance at some local pubs, revive the Boules Evening etc.?
For Thursday,10th October (evening) – a small group with Blackburn Artists - a couple more volunteers are needed, please. Names to Mike.
Event still pending: Saturday, 7th September – Singleton Cloggers’ Day of Dance and a town centre tour of Preston with Royal Preston MD.
And not only but also.....
Mike has already declined an invitation to Cuerden Valley Park on Sunday, 26th May, and it looks as though we shall also have to decline Rainbow House (Tues.28th May) and Mere Brow Leisure Lakes (Sat./Sun/28th/29th June).
