Leyland looked to be half asleep for much of the opening period, doing little wrong but lacking in intensity and vigour. Despite a try to Connor White, converted by Jack Calveley, the Warriors trailed 6-14 at the break and Blackpool were looking well worthy of their lead.
Things did not improve for the Warriors as Blackpool extended their lead to 6-20 early in the second half but this appeared to kick Leyland into action and they responded with John Cain running over a defender to score, with Declan Roberts converting. Leyland were building momentum now and when Calveley crashed under the posts and converted his own try, this pulled the score back to 18-20.
The Warriors continued to press the visitors, building patiently but mindful of the clock and they took the lead for the first time in the match when White squeezed over for his second try to make it 22-20.
It was Blackpool's turn now to renew their efforts, working hard to regain the lead but it was the Warriors who scored the final try, as Roberts chipped over the defence about 20 metres out, regained possession and crossed to the right of the posts for a great solo effort, with James Jeffers' conversion completing the scoring.
A spirited fightback which showed great composure but the team are all aware that a stronger start will be required in next week's cup fixture at home to Cadishead Rhinos.
