This week, after a month of record rainfall, it was a severe frost on Friday night which cause postponements of lot of games.
Sherwood are a very strong outfit and sat top of the South Division at the start of the day. Ironically, the only points they had dropped this season were at Linby early October in a 1-1 draw.
Sherwood started well and forced Linby keeper Jack Leverton into a couple of great saves from Julian Topliss and Gareth Curtis.
On 14 mins, Sherwoods Luke Bacon went close when his shot clipped the bar.
But Linby grew into the game and their front two pairing of James Hallam and Leighton Platts causing the home team problems with their electric pace and power.
Indeed, it was Platts and Hallam who combined to set up the opening goal on 30 mins.
A searching pass from Jack James found Platts on the right wing, he beat his man and crossed to the far post where Hallam laid the ball off for Owen Everton to slot expertly into the bottom corner past Josh Turton.
Linby then enjoyed a spell of 15 minutes, in which they could have extended their lead and put the game to bed.
Everton’s cross on 34mins found the unmarked Platts, but his first-time volley flew narrowly over the bar.
On 44 mins, Turton produced a fine save to deny Hallam’s rasping shot.

A thick fog began to decend over the pitch in the second half throwing into doubt whether the game would actually finish!
Leverton made a wonderful save on 52mins to deny Topliss from close range and keep Linby in front.
But the home side weren’t to be denied for long and on 68 mins substitute Jordan Ingram shot from the edge of the area found the bottom corner to bring the scores level at 1-1.
As Linby legs tired Sherwood pressed for a winner but another resilient defensive performance from Linby secured them a valuable point.
The back five of Jack Leverton, Kenneth Saunders, Danny Tring, James Duncan and Thomas Eastwood were all immense.
The draw keeps Linby fourth in the League table with another big week ahead that see them make a trip to Stavely MW reserves on Thursday 5th December for a third round League Cup tie. After which they are away to Ashland Rovers at the weekend.
