Linby recorded their biggest win for 6 years with a convincing win over local rivals Arnold Town.

Arnold started the game well and took the lead after 8 mins when Harry Warwick pounced on a loose ball and found the top corner with a nice finish from the edge of the area.
Linby eventually got their game going and found an equaliser on 23 min.
Brad Newby was fouled 25 yards out and from the resultant freekick Sean Craven curled a beautiful shot around Arnold’s wall and into the top corner to bring the scores level.
Warwick went close for the visitors again on 25 mins when he hit the post.
Linby centre half Ben Jones saw a header from a corner well saved by Jake Allen-Berresford in the Arnold goal. But on 30 mins Linby took the lead when a Jamie Thomas cross picked out James Hallam in the area and the big striker turned well and fired his low shot into the bottom corner.
Linby came close to a third on 38 mins when Harley Shooters cross found Craven, whose header thundered against the Arnold bar.
Half time: Linby CWFC 2 Arnold Town 1
Linby grabbed their third goal of the match after great skill from Newby saw him beat two men, play a one-two with Craven, before being bought down in the area.
Newby dispatched the penalty with aplomb into the bottom cornerto move the score along to 3-1.
On 60 mins a Newby corner was only half-cleared and Kurt Harrison smashed a wonderful volley into the top corner to make it 4-1.
Tom Hilton’s through ball found the ever willing Craven on 61 mins and he unselfishly slipped Hallam in to slide the ball past the oncoming keeper for 5-1.
Linby produced another wonderful move started with more good work from Craven which sent Newby clear on the left. His slide rule low cross to the far post was inch perfect for Hallam to slam home for his hat trick.
Hallam scored his fourth goal of the game on 89mins when a Newby corner wasn’t cleared and the striker pounced onto the loose ball to make it 7-1.
After a slow first half from Linby, they produced a ruthless second half performance against a young Arnold team who if they stick together can only get better and benefit from playing at this level.
