Linby ended their “mini” run of two defeats on the trot, earning a 2-2 draw away at Holbrook St. Michaels.
Although we could we feel slightly disappointed after having led twice in the game, a point at Holbrook St. Michaels and a very much improved performance bodes well for the coming weeks.
The home team looked very bright early on and put Linby under immense pressure. But Linby soaked it up well and took the lead with our first attack of the game.
A Brad Newby free kick from wide on the left found the Jack James, who headed home from 8 yards out after only 11 mins.
But the Saints responded immediately and on 14 mins when Linby lost the ball on the halfway line the ball was played through to Joe Brumby who gave Jack Leverton no chance to equalise the scores.
A Sam Chambers cross on 30 mins found Darren Cartwright, who’s volley looked to be heading into the top corner but Linby keeper Leverton made a brilliant save to keep the score at 1-1.
Good work from Jack James and Tom Hilton on 34mins found Sean Craven who’s blistering shot from 25 yards cannoned off the post and flew across the face of the goal.
Then on 38mins, Craven appeared to be clearly fouled inside the penalty area for a certain penalty. But incredibly the Referee didn’t give it.

Linby began the second half really well and on 51 mins Owen Everton’s cross from wide on the right was mis judged by Saints keeper Mark Wainwright but he just managed to tip the ball onto his own bar and, luckily for him, the ball rebounded to safety.
Linby took the lead for the second time in the game on 55 mins when good work from Hilton released Craven who this time planted the ball into the bottom left corner with a sweetly struck left foot drive from 24 yards out.
Linby go close to a third on 63mins when Cravens corner finds James at the far post but his towering header flew inches wide.
Against the run of play the hosts found another equaliser on 68 mins. Reagan Bickerton reacted first to a loose ball on the edge of the area and his shot took a wicked deflection to beat Leverton.
Linby made changes and brought three substitutes on to throw everything at the home team as they went in search of a winning goal. But the closest they came was on 88 min when Brad Newby’s free kick flew inches wide .
