Lincolnshire qualified for the finals of the Men's County Championships after winning all four of their games at Abbeydale Park

On Saturday 6th May, they beat Shropshire 3-0 and Warwickshire 5-4, before demolishing Durham 6-1 in their first game on Sunday which secured them a semi-final spot.

The last match of the afternoon was against a Yorkshire side who, like Lincolnshire, had won their first three games and already qualified for the semi-finals. This match was all about who would finish first and second in the pool and what an end to end match it was. Lincs took an early two goal lead only to have Yorkshire level at 2-2, then Lincs had a goal spree hitting the home county with three quick goals to go 5-3 up. After a few decisions went their way Yorkshire managed to level again at 5-5 mainly through a good penalty corner routine but Lincs continued the pressure to go 7-5 up with only a few minutes remaining. Yorkshire managed to pull one more back but Lincs were still dominating the play and held on for an excellent 7-6 win to top the group with 12 points.

Both sides will play at Nottingham Hockey Centre, Highfields, Nottingham on Saturday 20th May, when at 12.20 Lincolnshire will face Kent and Yorkshire will face Somerset for a place in the final at 16.00 on the same day.
