Chris Hall chats with Peter Hayward about the club's ambitions for next season

Chris Hall discusses his thoughts on his first season as Assistant Manager at Lincoln United and working with Sam Wilkinson as part of the Management Team.

He also talks about his playing career; his role behind the scenes; the players; the squad and their preparations for the 2017/18 season and his ambitions for the club.

The Ashby Avenue outfit are aiming to build on the success of last season when they won the Lincolnshire FA Senior Cup, had excellent runs in the FA Trophy and the FA Cup and just missed out on the play-offs in the Evo-Stik Division One (South) League.

Hall said: “Our ambitions are exactly the same as last year. We want to get in the play-offs.

“I have always felt this club needed to take that step forward.

“It’s a big city. We have a massive club in Lincoln City.

“There’s no reason why Lincoln United can’t challenge them in five or 10 years’ time.

“It’s there for us. We just need to get the results and start climbing the leagues.

“The fan base will come with the results and I would like to see this club go from strength to strength.

“Off the field things are looking good as well.

“The club is moving in a really good direction.

“The players really appreciate everything that is done by the volunteers at The Sun Hat Villas.

“They want to take this club forward for themselves and everyone else involved.”

Boss Sam Wilkinson has managed to retain all his squad from last season with Kallum Smith, Sean Cann and Jack Wilkinson agreeing terms last week. In addition, The Whites recently signed striker Ryan Oliver from Sleaford Town.

Hall added: “We have a great set of lads and hopefully this season we can go that one step further.

“Team spirit is massive for us.

“All the lads are close and enjoy each other’s company which is important.

“They work together brilliantly and go all out to win the games for each other.

“They also possess quality although towards the end of the season they struggled on a pitch that was not in great shape.

“We have players who can play football and get the ball down.

“Maybe we lack a bit of experience but that’s something Sam and I have identified and that’s an area where we are looking to strengthen a little bit.”
