Lincoln United FC is delighted to announce that Katy Gilbert has chosen to stay with 'The Whites' women's side.

Having started with the team three seasons ago as a 16 year old, Gilbert has improved exponentially throughout the time she's been with the team. Now entering into her fourth season as the team's number one, Katy brings continuity to our last line of defence, continued confidence with our returning defenders and moreover, Katy finished as the record appearance holder for Hykeham Town Women with in excess of 60+ appearances in just under three full seasons.

Goalkeeper Coach, Rosie Davidson had this to say on Gilbert's return, "Katy is loyal and committed to the club as her role as #1. She's a natural shot stopper, good reflexes and has good composure in big moments, making a number of good one-on-one saves. Katy is naturally quiet but that doesn't stop her commanding everyone in and around her 18-yard box. Having been with the club since she was 16, she has grown in confidence, physicality and her goalkeeping - I'm confident she still has so much more to offer too".

After agreeing to re-sign for 'The Whites' Gilbert commented, "It was such an easy decision for me to sign for Lincoln United for the upcoming season. For me, the last three seasons at Hykeham have been really enjoyable and, last season in particular the team togetherness was so strong on and off the pitch and I';m hoping that'll continue as we become Lincoln United".

"I'm looking forward to working with Rosie to continue my development as a goalkeeper and can't wait to be back out on the pitch with the team, where we can hopefully get back to winning ways and gain promotion that, if this season had been completed I'm sure we would've achieved".

Manager, Chris Funnell, was delighted when the team's #1 committed for another season. "Since taking over the team at the beginning of the 18/19 season, I think I've said to Katy every week, she's the best keeper in this league and the one above, I genuinely mean it. As Rosie has mentioned, her shot stopping is second to none, the amount of saves I've seen her make of the years at Hykeham, two that spring to mind in last season's County Cup Quarter Final".

"On top of that, her sweeping behind the backline has gotten better over time but also so impressive, yet underrated, is her kicking. It's as good as any female goalkeeper I've seen, it's not just the height and distanced but the accuracy, picking up two assists in the game vs Grimsby Borough last season. I am absolutely delighted to have Katy back with us".
