Dear Supporters,
As you are aware, the fate of our season was decided on 6th May and our relegation to step 5 has been confirmed. Although disappointed, all board members have acted swiftly and we have had several discussions relating to all footballing matters at Lincoln United FC.
Our priority was to address the management of the men's first team going into next season. Chris Funnell has received full backing from the board and I am pleased to announce he will continue to be the manager of the men's first team for 2023-24.
This season was incredibly tight and after a run of 8 games without loss saw us mid table, in a season where we were short by 1 point. The board believe Chris’s coaching and management will see us having a competitive squad with the board’s expectations of at least being in the play offs by the end of season 2023-2024 the minimum we expect.
To help Chris achieve this we are giving him a strong and competitive playing budget, in order to increase the squad in both size and ability. The board also thank the Supporters Trust for their contributions in making this possible.
We are in a period of rebuilding and this will be the clubs main objective for the upcoming season. We aim to keep the supporters updated with this via social media and I welcome any comments or suggestions from our fans, as we believe that your feedback will be beneficial to the club moving forward.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your unwavering support throughout the season. It is not unnoticed, and we look forward to seeing you all in the new season.
Best
Chris
