Three new members of Lincoln United’s board are hitting the ground running and teaming up to ask local businesses help them develop future players for the Club’s senior First Teams.
Recently appointed Director of Football, Dave Frecklington, and Business Advisory Directors, Brendan McDaid and Jonty Hawley, all say their Men’s and Women’s Development Teams are a vital part of the Club’s long-term plan, and they are asking local businesses to back them by taking up sponsorship deals for each of the two teams.

“Our overall sponsorship base has grown considerably in the last few months,” says Brendan McDaid, “and we really appreciate the support our old and new sponsors have given the Club which will go a long way in helping us achieve our goals. There is, however, one area where we need a final push to secure more funding and that is for our important Development Teams, which is why Dave, Jonty and I are reaching out to local businesses and asking them if they can help us in any way.”

Jonty Hawley takes up the story: “We have seen how important the Whites’ Development Teams are for both the Men’s and Women’s game and it is very pleasing to seeplayers coming up through the ranks into the ‘Devs’ and then into the First Teams. We hope that some local businesses will buy into this and see it as a good opportunity with which to be associated. The main element of the £2k two-year sponsorship packages for each of the two teams is company branding on Travel Wear and Training Kits, but there are many other benefits that come with the packages which can be tailored to suit the sponsor’s requirements.”

Dave Frecklington sees developing in-house talent as vitally important to the Club’s success and says: “To return to this Club as the Director of Football and member of the Supporters’ Trust is a real privilege for me and I want to do everything I can to bring improvement and success across the whole Club. It’s a very different set-up to what it was when I was last here, with more teams and, of course, the Women’s game which is a rapidly growing part of the football scene in general thanks largely to the fantastic achievement of the Lionesses and the popularity of the WSL. Our whole structure is based on developing young, in-house talent to a position where they can command a Development Team place andthen, ideally, move up into either the Men’s or Women’s First Teams. Growing this pool of available talent is important, especially at this early stage of the Club’s regeneration when finances are tight, and I hope some of the businesses in and around Lincoln will want to get involved.”

Anyone wanting to talk to the Club about sponsoring either the Men’s or Women’s Development Teams is asked to contact either Brendan McDaid on 07747 842701 or Jonty Hawley on 07786 9477607.
