Lincoln United are thrilled to announce the signing of defender Phil Watt.

Manager Sam Wilkinson could not hide his delight once the capture of Phil Watt from Belper Town was confirmed, with Phil joining The Whites on a one year contract.

Sam added: “He's a fantastic signing for Lincoln United and his capture once again demonstrates a real statement of intent from the club to improve the current squad.”

Along with Chris (Hall), Sam has been working hard during the close season to find a leader with experience. In Phil Watt, Sam declared: “We’ve now got that man.”

He went on to add, “He's an old fashioned centre half who is one of the best in the league.

“He leads by example on and off the pitch.

“He will add to an already promising squad of players, who are very hungry to succeed.”

One of the key factors in the move was the opportunity and potential to be challenging at the top of the league again. With this group of players and management team Phil believes the move to United can give him that.

A league position of 5th, reaching the play-offs in the 2015/16 season and a league finish of 8th in the 2016/17 season plus the cup runs, in which The Whites made the 4th Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup; the 3rd Qualifying Round of the Buildbase FA Trophy; the 2nd Round of the Integro League Cup and won the Lincolnshire FA Senior Cup; demonstrates the club are moving in the right direction and are an attractive proposition to any player.

Career Summary:
Phil began his career in the Rotherham United in the youth team before joining Lincoln City and playing in their youth set up. He made his debut for the Imps first team in 2007 but was later released by Peter Jackson. After his release from Lincoln City he moved to Corby Town where he had a three year spell. Further moves followed including stints at Grantham Town, Boston United and Coalville Town.

Welcome to The Whites Phil Watt.
