Firstly I'd like to thank the supporters for turning out in what proved to be a really enjoyable afternoon down at Ashby Avenue on Saturday.

Everyone knows how important it is for Lincoln United FC to survive these testing financial times and for those spending £7 on the gate on Saturday, it's much appreciated, I'm sure you all got your money's worth.

We knew as a group how important the game was in terms of Gresley being 4 points in front and if we could win the game it would drag them closer to us and heap more pressure on to them.

I woke up on Sunday morning with a real sense of pride in the players, in not only responding to 3 straight defeats, but having not played a league game for two weeks you could expect a bit of rustiness but to put in the commitment and desire to work tirelessly for one another was a real pleasure and thoroughly deserved the win.

We went into the game minus Jordan Lemon Jack Barnett and Alex Simmons through injury so we had to utilise the squad and give starts to Josh Raby and Matt o Halloran.

These two deserve special praise in the way in which they've conducted themselves around the football club, in training they've worked hard on their fitness so when they get a start they would be giving themselves a chance of performing somewhere near their best, and they did that superbly well on Saturday.

I do think if they can get even fitter you'll see more from these two important members of the team.
But all 14 deserve special credit as to come from 0-1 to win the game shows what we are all about and having two weeks off and a bonding session last week/hiding trainers weekend the togetherness really shone through.

The icing on the cake was Canny’s winner.
We know he's got it in the locker and when he's on it no-one in this league can touch him,Nathan and Bruno worked hard all game but for Sean to beat 5 players and drill it in the far corner with his swinger was a moment of magic.

I also thought Reddo gave us something different when he came on, but it was a real team performance.
Not everyone will go on websites but have a look on Gresleys forum and tell me what you think.
I'll tell you now that I'm disappointed by their manager Martin Rowe’s comments.

Calling it more of a boxing match and that we were too aggressive, too physical and punching there players, handing out physical abuse??????

If I recall rightly wasn't it their player that got a straight red for a disgusting challenge on Danny Brooks??
Wasn't it their manager that got sent off for foul and abusive language???

Never mind Nathan modest getting 3 elbows to his head but it's football at this level.if you dish it out expect some back, we just stood up to it better than them.
I actually thought the referee got it spot on in a very tough day for the officials.

As you all know we've not got money to throw around so we play to our strengths and if it means getting in peoples faces to stop them playing

This is Evo-stick football and when your scrapping down the wrong end of the table you do just that.

If an opposing manager puts in the public domain that they should win at Lincoln and will treat it as a home game then I don't have to do a team talk, the players have pride in Ashby Avenue and as most teams have found out it ain't easy coming to get points in Lincoln and if they do they had to put a real shift in. we will do.

I can't recall one bad tackle all game from anyone of my players but they were a lot of full blooded ones going in.

Ian Wilkins asked for us to be more aggressive in games, it's how we played as players especially big Sam Wilk, if you don't you get trampled on.

I respect Martin Rowe he signed me as a player for Shepshed Dynamo so I was pleased with his motivational speech.
We now have to back it up at Kidsgrove next week in which no doubt will be massive for both clubs, their decent at home and we will have to be at our very best to come away with a result, but we will be travelling there with renewed confidence.

Gaffer.
