Lincoln United won the game 1-0 thanks to a Brendan McDaid header but more importantly the game was enjoyed by players from the past and present.

It was fitting that McDaid should score the winner in a legends game. He passed 500 appearances for the Whites this season and also played very well on the day.

Steve Carter alongside him rolled back the years as did one or two others. Gary Crosby now in his late forties looked like he could still play and Gary Bull seems to get fitter.

For the Imps Jason Minett and Paul Miller, both ex-Whites looked impressive whilst the "Managers" Terry Fleming and John Scofield were in the heart of the game.

United had the better of the first half and deserved their lead whilst City had the better of the second half.

Colin Alcide should have levelled for the Imps and said later, "His brain sent out the right message but his legs didn't respond."

City's Manager said, "The lads had a great reunion and the friendly atmosphere meant fans could get their photos with their heros and their pen pictures."

United took the chance to invite some old friends off the field amd former Manager's Allen Crombie and John Wilkinson were able to socialise with some of their old charges.
