The Whites secured all three points in a tough clash at Ashby Avenue, in a game that celebrated grassroots day and rainbow laces.

Both sides got off to the worst possible start as just a few minutes in both sides were reduced to 10 men. Sean wright was shown the straight red.

In the 16th minute, we created the first big chance of the game as Harry Olivant drilled a dangerous ball across the six yard box that evaded all Whites attackers.

We opened the scoring a few minutes later, as Paul Grimes reacted fastest to Olivant’s saved shot to pounce and find the back of the net.

Harrowby pushed for a leveller, with a long range effort fizzing past the post.

They found the equaliser on the stroke of half-time so we reached the break level at 1-1.

Both Tris Drummond and Harry Olivant fired wide shortly after the restart before Henry Moore made a remarkable goal line clearance to nod a Harrowby effort over the top.

The game became end to end as Harry Olivant forced a stop from the ‘keeper before Steggles made an important intervention to prevent the away side from taking the lead.

We found the winner in the 80th minute as Jaime Ture met Paul Grimes’ corner to nod powerfully into the back of the net.

We saw the game out well, with Steggles being relatively untroubled in the latter stages of the match.

We turn to FA Vase next week as we travel away to Shropshire in a tough battle against Whitchurch Alport.
