The whites fell to defeat in the determining round of the Women National League losing 3-0 to the home side Peterborough United.
Lincoln made 5 changes to the lineup that drew against Solihull Moors last Sunday. Dropping Sarah Newton and Demi Barai to the bench and bringing on Bella Bogg and Tobey Vidler.
Both teams had an incredible first half, with both goal keepers working exceptionally to stop the opposition from scoring in the end-to-end game. Unfortunately for both teams, offsides stopped them from advancing forward in the game.
Both teams were level at the second half with fans anticipated an even more exciting second half than the first. However, a mistake from the Whites in the 46th minute led to The Posh’s taking the lead.
Unfortunately for the whites, it was chance after chance for the Posh’s but goal keeper Amy Hood did an outstanding job at saving the chances that Peterborough had.
During the second half, Whites manager Ricky Ledger 4 substitutions. Demi Barai and Amy Copley. Abi Ringrose for Izzy Thorpe and Holly Newton for Kaitlin Peaker.
Despite the best efforts the team gave, the Posh’s managed to gain another 2 goals before the end of full time. The goals were scored in the 53rd and 57th minutes. However, advances from Copley later in the game gave the Whites a good chance at a goal but unfortunately not enough for the team to advance to the next round of the National League.
There was only one yellow card given in the game which was given to Whites player Wilson for a tackle against the opposition.
Overall, it was an exciting game to start with, both teams were going from end to end in the first match, it was unfortunate for Lincoln United though but now they advanced to the National League Plate while Peterborough United advance to the next round of the Women’s National League.
Attention turns back to the league this weekend as The Whites play away once again but at Worcester City on Sunday.
Up The Whites.
