Steve Melton is a major doubt for United's opening fixture at Carlton Town.

Carlton, under new management have been busy with many new signings in the summer following the departure of Manager Tommy Brookbanks to Hucknall Town.

In stark contrast, lack of funds has seen United turn it's attention to Youth and with the signing of Sam Mullarkey, Luke Boyce and James Stokes the only new signings United have mixed and matched but are starting to look the part.

If we can reproduce the form we showed at Stamford in the Lincolnshire Senior Shield we will give ourselves a good chance of a decent season.

Manager, John Wilkinson said, "Steve not being available is a blow but we have to cope and with Matt O'Halloran short of fitness we will look to younger players."

"The youngsters have refreshed us and now it is time to deliver. Senior players can bring a certain baggage with them but we hope our kids will show no fear."

"At 5pm on Saturday we will have a much better idea just how much they can produce."
