TWO SUPER STRIKES FROM TOYNE GIVE WHITES OUTSTANDING VICTORY AND SEASON'S FIRST WIN

Wow. It had to happen. I hate to say I told you so but I told you so.

The Whites produced a performance today similar to Tuesday only this time they scored two and conceded none.

It all started in the 25th minute when Glynn Cotton stroked a clever corner to skipper Andy Toyne who gratefully smashed the ball into the net from 25 yards to open the scoring.

In the 64th minute it was Toyne once again, fed beautifully by Holden, who hit an unstoppable shot beyond the despairing hands of the Wrens' keeper, this time from 20 yards with his right peg.

This was the story of the game. Apart from a scare after only three minutes when the Rainworth strikers messed up a goal-scoring opportunity, it was mostly one-way traffic.

On Tuesday the Whites created a dozen chances at Stocksbridge but gifted the opposition two goals.

Today they created even more of a threat on the opposition goal but gave nothing away in defence.

There is a reason why I have put the image of the club badge at the head of the report and it's this.

Hard work, commitment and playing for the shirt is symbolic of that badge and today everyone did the club proud.

The back five were solid and Robert Peet showed just what a very capable young keeper he is.

The midfield totally dominated the opposition.

The attack threatened goals every time they moved forward.

There was an air of confidence and purpose in the Whites' play.

If I was the Gaffer, and he knows far more about the game than I ever will, I would say this to the lads about Monday's home match against Goole :

'MORE OF THE SAME'.

Well done everyone. A deserved victory. A great performance.
