Lincoln United made the contrastingly short trip to Carlton Town on Saturday afternoon, after their midweek trip to Dunston earlier in the week. 'The Whites' welcomed back Callum Foster and Jack Wightwick to the squad; the former, alongside Harry Millard and Jake Park were recalled to the starting lineup.

The match couldn't have gotten off to a better start when Tobias Liversidge found himself one-on-one with Carlton's right-back, the young winger cut inside and smashed the ball into the top corner giving United the perfect start. 1-0 inside 45 seconds.

Liversidge and United almost doubled their tally when a cross from Harry Millard found Liversidge at the back post; the winger's trickery left the right back stationary but his half-volley blazed over the bar. The first 15 minutes were relentless for United, Stainsby in Carlton's net was called into action to deny Jake Park from a header, whilst the forward should have done better with a snatched volley over the top.

United did get their second of the match through the ever-present, Matt Cotton. Liversidge was involved again, his cross was met on the volley by Cotton; Stainsby kept the first effort out before Cotton was first to the loose ball.

The home side got one back within four minutes. A cheap free kick was given away before a defensive mishap let Tomlin cut in and finish past Steggles from the tightest of angles.

'The Whites' weren't deterred by Carlton's goal. Liversidge was continuing his fantastic first half, Stainsby was equal to a long-range effort which was destined to find the bottom corner. Carlton didn't heed the warning and a lightning counter-attack started through Clarke and Dye resulted in Liversidge finishing confidently minutes before halftime.

The second half continued as the first had finished. Clarke released Liversidge down the left and whilst the finish was perhaps not as clinical as the winger's first or second, the miscued cross flew over Stainsby and into the far corner.

United managed the second half superbly. Steggles and the defence were equal to anything that 'The Millers' threw at them, whilst Dye and Clarke dominated the proceedings in midfield.

'The Whites' almost extended their lead further when Foster's header was clawed out by Stainsby, following a United corner. Cotton and co were regularly a threat but unable to extend United's lead.

A perfect away performance saw United record their 5th win in 9 matches as they now prepare for the 4th consecutive away match against Brighouse Town on December 3rd.
