CHASETOWN 2 WHITES 2
In all all-action first half United found themselves under sustained pressure from the home side but defended well. Ironically too the Whites carved out three or four good chances before the interval when several times they broke away after breaking down a Chasetown attacking move. After 36 minutes the deadlock was broken when Danny North headed home from a right wing cross.
With all the talk about keeping Chasetown at bay in the second period in the early stages it didn’t turn out like that when they equalised through Cater within 30 seconds of the half starting. The game then ebbed and flowed but all looked lost when Cater got his and his team’s second after 68 minutes.
United pressed for the equaliser and manager Steve Housham made changes to bolster the attack.
The last few minutes saw some end to end action as the Whites committed more men forward and left themselves exposed in defence.
The Whites faithful were delighted though when after three minutes of added time Kallum Smith crossed a free kick into the home penalty area, Michael Jacklin headed back across goal, and the impressive Jamie Goddard ghosted in to bury a header and earn his team and valuable point.
This was a good performance by United and yet again the never-say-die spirit in the camp brought them some deserved reward
