Match Preview: Lincoln United vs Worksop Town
Lincoln United face another tough test against seventh-placed Worksop Town in the NPL – East Division Table on Saturday.
The fixture presents an even bigger challenge for ‘The Whites’ as they are struggling with an injury crisis where there were nine injured players at Tuesday’s training session.
Defenders Simon Biggs, Jack Arbon, Max Baker and Tristan Skerritt all look set to miss out at the weekend as well as both Thomas Williams and Callum Chapman.
Jake Park, Robbie Smith and Tobias Liversidge are in a race to be fit with the hope that at least two out of the three can make it in time.
Despite the lack of defenders, manager Sam Wilkinson was delighted with the club’s latest signing after their match last weekend away to Dunston.
“Kern Miller made a big difference in centre-half, he's a real leader. A big, strong, powerful centre-half and he demands from the players around him and the young lads responded really well to him so that was a big positive, now we've got that centre-half that we've been looking for.”
Lincoln United currently place fifteenth in the table, without a win in six games and the manager understands the situation they find themselves in.
“It's been difficult, I’ve been in this situation before as manager a couple of times and you're trying to put your finger on things that you could do better. But we’ve come to the conclusion that we have to keep working really hard for each other and keep trying.
“There are very fine margins where we believe if we stick our chances away results will come.”
Focus now lies on Saturday’s match at Ashby Avenue with kick-off due at 3pm.
