Lincoln United WFC will face Rise Park Ladies F.C in what will be their first EMWRFL Premier Division match since the 10th October.

‘The Whites’ come into this game after a loss to Women’s National League side West Bromwich Albion.

They sit in sixth, having played the least number of games in the league. Manager Chris Funnell said: “We’ve still got to play Mansfield twice, Notts County twice, Northampton twice, chesterfield once and so there’s pressure to continue the momentum and get results to stay with that pack.

“Let’s be honest, dropping points on Sunday at home, especially at home, would be a disastrous result. We can’t afford to drop points because I don’t think the others will drop many either.”

The opposition, Rise Park Ladies, sit second-from-bottom with one point through their first five games. It’ll be a different game to the West Brom fixture, with Lincoln returning to being the favourites in their fixture.

“It’s nice to be in league action and be in a position where we should be on the front-foot and should be the more dominant team.

“Sunday was a very good learning curve, it showed me the players have abilities we don’t normally get to see week in, week out because we don’t have to.”

The Whites added some key players to the absentee list for Sunday with Lauren Churcher, Steph Powell and Heather Pettit away. Demi Barai is also doubtful for the game due to a hamstring injury she had been nursing.

Katie Davison won’t train due to COVID-19 isolation restrictions but should be available for the fixture.

After Rise Park, ‘The Whites’ will play back-to-back games against Rotherham United WFC before heading into the Christmas break.
