Lincoln United WFC will host Rotherham United WFC after the first of their back-to-back FA East Midlands Women’s Regional League fixtures was called off, due to a waterlogged pitch.
With this being another game in the long list of fixtures rescheduled or postponed for Lincoln United, there are genuine concerns with the second half of the season being overly packed for the side.
Manager Chris Funnell said: “It’s just an add on. The second half of the season, from a league perspective, is massive. We have Northampton twice; Notts County twice; Mansfield twice; Rotherham once, after this.
“Games slowly add up and we’ve spoken about the pros and cons of both. From my perspective, I’d rather have points on the board.”
With this being the last game before the Christmas break, ‘The Whites’ will look to go into the break on a high – continuing their quality performances of late.
“It’s massive to finish the year on a high. It’s been a really tough, but successful calendar year. The season has been really good and successful so far if you look at performances and the FA Cup run.”
‘The Whites’ will be without Amy Hood, Tracey Duxbury-Mead and Kirsty Richardson, all recovering from injuries. They will also be missing the services of Abi Ringrose, who is out with illness.
After the Christmas break, ‘The Whites’ will host Chesterfield in the league cup, a repeat of last years Trevor Clifton Trophy Final. The fixture will be played on Sunday 9th January 2022.
This Sunday's game kicks off at 2pm, Ashby Avenue.
