Lincoln United WFC will travel to face Oughtibridge WM WFC in the Quarter Final of the EMWRFL Cup, hoping to continue their journey towards lifting the trophy two years in a row.

The two sides, who play in the EMWRL Premier Division, will face off for the first time this season.

Oughtibridge currently sit fifth in the league, with four wins, two draws and two losses – one position below ‘The Whites’.

After a loss to Northampton Town WFC, United will hope to bounce back with a win. Manager Chris Funnell said: “It’s hugely important to get back to winning ways and put together a run between now and the end of the season.

“To achieve our goals, we have to win every single game this season, that’s the aim and it starts with this Quarter Final.”

Despite scoring nine in their last four games, ‘The Whites’ usually potent attack hasn’t been as clinical as it usually is. Funnell said: “It’s not like we’re not creating chances, we’re creating a lot of them and they’re just not going in.

“They won’t go on a run of games without scoring. Sunday was the first game we went without scoring all season – credit to Northampton, we scored against West Brom.

“Lauren Churcher scored two against Leicester, Abbie Murrell scored against Lincoln City, Abbie and Lucy both scored twice against Chesterfield. It’s not as if they’re not scoring, we’re just missing more chances than we’re used to missing.”

The Whites’ almost have a full squad. They will be missing three players, including: Chloe Brock-Taylor, Demi Barai and Tracey Duxbury-Mead with her knee injury.

The game will kick off this Sunday 6th February at 1.30pm at the Oughtibridge War Memorial Sports Club.
