The final match of pre-season saw Lincoln United Women make the short trip to the North of the City where they took on National League Reserve side, Lincoln City Women. In a frustrating pre-season which has seen United's women have to adapt consistently throughout the summer, this match would set the team up nicely for the opening day of the season, against Borrowash Victoria Ladies.

The two big names within women's football in Lincolnshire brought quite a crowd for a pre-season friendly and it was the hosts who started the better. The drive and tenacity from City's midfield wasn't matched by United, allowing 'The Imps' to work a couple of half chances in the opening 15 minutes. However, the home-side did take the lead inside 20 minutes, Steadman's free-kick struck the underside of the bar and East was on hand to tap in the rebound, giving City a deserved lead.

After the goal, the match settled down but City were still more prevalent on the attack in comparison to United. Gilbert made a great save from McHamilton, moments later the tall striker rounded United's keeper but the angle was too tight to find the back of the net. United found a few half openings thanks to the work of Abbie Murrell and Abbie Ringrose but the newly promoted side couldn't muster anything meaningful on goal.

The second half saw United react positively, which would see them score three goals in six minutes. The first came after some neat interchange between United's attacking line, Churcher finding the back of the net with a neat finish inside the 18-yard box.

Two minutes later and United took the lead. A ball in behind released Murrell, good composure and cut back to the six-yard found Dalzell who duly obliged and found the back of the net to give United the lead.

On the 52nd minute, 'The Whites' made it three. Limb got in front of City's striker and fizzed a pass into Abi Ringrose early, the striker made no mistake as she smashed the ball past City's keeper from 20-yards.

The remainder of the second half was for the most part territorially dominated by United. City did have a couple of half chances from wide areas but United defended their box well. However, on the 79th minute City did pull one back, Buxton struck from distance but Gilbert couldn't keep it out despite getting a big hand to it.

Inside a minute and United had increased their lead again. Zoe Hopewell's through ball found the run of her midfielder partner, Demi Barai. Barai's first touch took her towards goal, her second was a 50/50 challenge with City's keeper, the midfielder tapping in the loose ball to ensure United kept their two goal lead.
