'The Whites' travelled to Leicestershire to take on Anstey Nomads for the third time this season but this time in the League Cup Quarter Finals. The two sides had already met in The FA Cup and the league with United coming out on top on both occasions, 4-3 and 1-2, respectively.

United made one change to their starting 11 with Olivia Smith coming into the team for Tallulah Freeman; however, the young winger retained her place in the starting line-up as Megan Long started on the bench due to illness. 'The Whites' got off to the best start possible and it was newly introduced Olivia Smith with the assist, her corner found the head of Annie Ward who duly nodded in on the 4th minute to give United the perfect start.

The combination of Smith and Ward from another set-piece nearly doubled United's lead but the centre-back couldn't make good enough contact to turn her header towards the goal. It was evident that 'The Whites' weren't at their free-flowing best but the threatening forward line of Gilliatt, Duxbury-Mead and Freeman still had good enough chances to extend the lead. First, Gilliatt drew an outstretching save from the Anstey keeper; moments later Duxbury-Mead found herself in on goal but after confusion with the Assistant Referee, the striker dragged her effort wide. Gilliatt then rounded the keeper but her cross into the box was well cleared by Anstey's player of the match and skipper, Megan Kenney.

The following 20 minutes saw United's back line in action as Anstey grew into the game. Whilst Davidson in goal wasn't tested, her starting position needed to be perfect as Anstey constantly looked to stretch United.

United for the first exchanges of the second half were again far from their own high standards. A defensive error allowed the Anstey striker to bare down on goal, Davidson made the save outside of the box and was shown a straight red card for denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. Betsy Thomas was sacrificed, whilst Amy Hood took the mantra in goal.

The red card sparked United into life and Anstey didn't have a shot for the remainder of the match. United were a constant threat through Gilliatt, Churcher and Duxbury-Mead, additionally, Olivia Smith's set-piece delivery was also causing the home side defensive problems. Annie Ward volleyed high from 12 yards out which would have sealed the game for 'The Whites'

It was the combination of Churcher and Gilliatt which gave United the vital second goal. A through ball was met by Gilliatt who deftly lifted the ball into the goal.

Two minutes later and the United took the game away from Anstey. The same combination came together, this time, Churcher took the ball round the keeper and passed the ball into an empty net.

Peaker and Devonport were introduced to give United more energy heading into the final 15 minutes. Peaker was a constant threat down the left, her ability to get the best of the right back almost resulted in Olivia Smith creating another goal from a set piece. The final action saw Annie Ward have another header cleared off the line, in what could have been her 4th of the match.

United progressed into their second semi-final of the season with a good second-half performance, despite being down to 10 players.
