Liskeard Looe were a credit to the club in probably their most physical encounter to date. Tackling abounded from all, with Oli Dennett leading the way with three tackles in the first minute alone. The first half was a relatively even affair where a few missed chances meant the Lions turned around three tries to one down. James Slater scored an excellent try from the lineout after Oli(Owen Farrell)Dennett has chosen to kick a penalty to touch for the lineout. Throughout, however, Jay Mason and Oli Aniyi were in the faces of Fowey, harrying and stealing ball, Owen Harris smuggling in the maul, whilst Josh Pidcock put in a couple of crunching tackles. Henry Dean just missed the line in a second half where Liskeard went down to a mixture of some excellent running by Fowey and the effects of six or seven player changes. The Lions had their chances in the second half with Callum Slater and Harry Barlow combining to nearly go over and Oli Bragg finding himself embroilied in most things including the bottom of rucks. There was a lot of good learning today which will bode well for future matches.
