After the inauspicious to our season, few could have imagined the turnaround in fortunes for the Men's Senior squad that brings us to the semi final of the East Bowl this Saturday. Indeed, our first league game of the season was against Earlston away and, for various reasons, we travelled there with 14 players having to draft in 4 from Walkerburn to give us a viable squad. The guys fought manfully in that game but were on the wrong side of a big score.

When we played Earlston at the Inch in the reciprocal game a few weeks later, it was an altogether different mentality going into that game and we came out 19-0 winners. I think we all saw this as a defining moment in the change to the squad.

Having managed to get past Trinity Accies in a classic game in the previous round, this now brings us up against our friends at Earlston for a third time this season. The decider in a best of three series with the added incentive of a place in the East Bowl Final for the winner.

Our hosts have had a cracking season, coming out firing early in the league and battling all the way with Trinity and Northern for the title only to find their challenge slip away at the end. No doubt they have set their target on cup glory and will be a formidable opponent on their home patch.

However, we are not bringing the weakened squad that played that first match. This will be a pretty much full strength Lismore with much to prove. The weather forecast is decent and I expect an absolutely cracking game.
