Historic win for Commoners in league cup final.

Little Common Football Club clinched a historic first ever trophy in senior football following their 4-3 victory over Oakwood in the SCFL Division One cup final on Wednesday evening.

The Commoners took the lead after only nine minutes when Ryan Paul headed in Wes Tate's deflected cross before Tate doubled the lead nine minutes later, latching onto a Lewis Hole flick to expertly lob the advancing Oakwood keeper. Hole grabbed the third just before half time and the Commoners seemed to be cruising. However, Oakwood caused more problems to the Common defence in the second half and pulled a goal back just after the hour. Russell Eldridge saw a free-kick hit the woodwork and Hole's turn and shot just fell the wrong side of the post. With seven minutes remaining Oakwood gave themselves real hope by reducing the score line further but Hole made it 4-2 in the 90th minute to all but seal the trophy. Oakwood were reduced to nine men in added time before grabbing a third with the last action of the game.

Congratulations to manager Russell Eldridge and all the players for a tremendous achievement which caps a fine season.
