Littlehampton Town have confirmed a new Under 23 side will enter the Southern Combination Football League Under 23 West Division for the 2019/20 season. Home matches will take place on Thursday nights at the St Flora's Road Sportsfield.
Managing the new side is Lee Stratford, who has great experience in youth football, having formerly run Worthing United's Under 18 side and was part of the junior setup at East Preston.
He said: "I'm really excited to take the next step in my management career and am looking forward to being part of such a big Sussex club. My aim as U23 manager will be to help the first team develop and get back to where it deserves to be. Hopefully I can bring some excellent young players through the club."
Stratford will be assisted by Dave Jordan, who joined the management of Littlehampton Town last year and first team goalkeeping coach James Askew.
Already a number of pre-season fixtures have been arranged and the first training session starts alongside the first team on Monday 24th June, 7.30pm at The Sportsfield.
Littlehampton Town chairman Rob McAlees was delighted with the arrival of Lee Stratford and said it was an important development for the club in its future ambitions.
"We have been looking at getting a Youth side, but we have been waiting for the right person to be available to help us with our ambitions," said McAlees. "We think that Lee Stratford is the man for the job and he will play a very important role in helping us build a strong footballing side. We can't wait for the new season to start."
Stratford worked with the Under 14 & 16s at East Preston in 2015/16 and was manager of Worthing United's Under 18 side from September 2017 until December 2018.
