We chart the seven games to the Buildbase FA Vase final

You can trace Littlehampton Town's journey in the FA Vase right back to 1976. Our first game in the competition (that was only two years old at this stage) was at home in the Preliminary Round against Whitehawk. We won 5-0.
Fast-forward 46 years and the Marigolds next game in the national competition will be in the final on Sunday against Newport Pagnell Town. The game is live on BT Sport and BBC Radio Sussex and we know 7,000 of you are travelling to the home of English football directly for the 12:15 kick-off.
In 1991 we reached the Semi-Finals, losing over the two legs to Gresley Rovers. The further we managed since that famous year was the Third Round in 1992 (we lost 1-0 to Pelsall Villa) and a Third Round replay in 2014 when we lost to Ashford United.
But it's been 2021/22 that has witnessed our best ever run in the competition. Here's a short reminder of that journey...

First Round
23 October, 2021
We beat Moneyfields of the Wessex League 3-2 at home with George Gaskin starting the scoring and Lucas Pattenden getting our third nine minutes from time.

Second Round
11 November 2021
Littlehampton made a memorable trip to Deal Town and came back a goal and a man down (Jordan Clark had been shown a red card) to win 2-1 at the Southern Counties East League side.

Third Round
11 December 2021
Golds faced another Southern Counties East League side as Sheppey United returned to the Sportsfield. We had beaten the Kent side on penalties last year after a dramatic 3-3 draw. This time around we won 1-0 with Liam Humphreys hitting the back of the net.

Fourth Round
15 January 2022
An ill-fated trip to Athletic Newham led to a dark day when a 5-0 loss was compounded by striker Joe Benn's shoulder injury. However the FA gave the Marigolds a reprieve when Athletic Newham were charged with illegally fielding a suspended player. And we were reinstated with a home draw to Brockenhurst

Fifth Round
12 February 2022
We started well with another home tie against the Wessex League side but the 3-1 lead slipped to a 3-3 draw with two very late goals taking the game to penalties. Golds held their nerve and ousted Brockenhurst 4-1 on pens with 1,276 in attendance.

Quarter Final
12 March 2022
With the competition stretching to a national level we drew Northern League powerhouse North Shields, who as previous winners of the competition, were a tough test. In front of an amazing 2,245 supporters Golds produced one of their performances of the season to earn a 1-0 win; Gaskin scoring in the 79th minute.

Semi Final
2 April 2022
Incredibly another home tie and this time the visitors were the disciplined, but young side, Loughborough Students. Now in front of a capacity crowd of 3,142, Littlehampton Town put on a magnificent display, with Gaskin scoring in less than a minute of the whistle and captain Jordan Clark adding a second on 35 minutes. Two second half goals sent the Marigolds faithful home happy, as a date with Wembley was set...
