Pentwynmawr Welfare from the Gwent Premier League were the visitors to the Broadway for the FAW Trophy second round tie having knocked out last year’s finalists, Clydach Wasps in the previous round.
Llandrindod started the first twenty minutes well and it was during that spell of early pressure that they opened the scoring from a well taken free kick by Dan Thomas on the edge of the box. The goal sparked the visitors into life and they soon got back on level terms with the visitors centre forward crossing from the left which was met at the back post by the right winger who volleyed in from six yards.
The visitors grabbed a second just before half time after Llandrindod failed to clear a corner, the ball made its way back into the box and the centre forward side footed into the top left hand corner of the net. Manager, Nigel Thomas who returned from a two week absence handed out some half time hair dryer treatment which had the desired effect as Llandrindod started the second half well.
Michael Watkins hit the bar with a header from a set piece with the subsequent rebound dropping to Paul Bishop whose shot was goal bound only for one of the visitors defenders to make a brave block on the goal line. Other half chances fell to Shaun Nicholls and Gareth Jones but the best chance of the second half fell to Paul Bishop who was played in behind the visitors defence by a Paul Watson through ball and with only the keeper to beat lifted the ball over the goal. However, the visitors were to get the final word as they scored a late goal as Llandrindod pressed hard for the equaliser to book their place in the third round.
