Llanelli Warriors 17 Swansea Vikings 36

The Vikings gained revenge for their defeat to the Warriors in the summer stretching away in the 2nd half for an impressive win.
Still in their 1st season, the gains the Vikings have made in the last 4 months with regular matches were obvious. Counter to this the Warriors have had fewer fixtures recently and looked rusty at times.

The Vikings started the game strongly, coming straight out of the blocks and kept the Warriors under pressure for most of the 1st quarter. Though the Warriors worked hard in defense with Nathan Lawson getting about the field, the tries came with in quick succession with Tom Boswell and Chris Grove scoring.

The Warriors finally started to but some phases together and when the forwards gave them clean ball the backs looked sharp with live wire scrum half Craig James making space for those further out. Luke Jenkins showed some class and claimed a brace of tries to even things up but Boswell scored again somewhat against the run of play. The Warriors lineout had the upper hand at this point with Andrew Davies hoovering up throws from both teams and this kept them on the front foot and fly half Jamie Evans broke through to score. Whittaker improved to made it all square at 17 all going into the break.

The Vikings scored a crucial early try in the second half: Tom Boswell running strongly from a scrum and Tom Seabrook again improved it to give the visitors a significant lead.

The Warriors had plenty of territory but struggled with possession, being turnover several times. The Vikings, with Paul Martin going well, looked to attack from this broken play and although the Warriors defense scrambled well they were bound to conceed something. Boswell got his 4th alongside Joe Strokes to leave the Warriors training.

The final quarter saw the Warriors monopolise territory with Alun Stephens up front and Dylan Harris behind causing problems, but again turnovers cost them. They won several penalties but kicks were not enough and they couldn't quite score. The lineout even started to wobble just when it was needed most and so the Vikings kept them scoreless in the second half.
Revenge then for the Vikings but despite the scoreline the Warriors will be hoping for a better when they travel to Swansea later in the season.
