1st Pembs trip but Barbarians hold sway

Apologies for the late review - been a mad week…
As the review won’t make the papers, this is more of a summary of what happened:

The Warriors made their 1st ever sortie into Pembrokeshire to Tenby RFC but that was the end of their success and it certainly wasn’t a holiday, with the Pembrokeshire barbarians winning the match.
Slightly galling for the Warriors who had to lend the home side a number of player, Chip and Simon Tarw making the Warriors pay for leaving them out of the starting line up with some storming displays. The Warriors were pretty lethargic and hesitant at the start, shades of the Cardiff trip again. Tom Hall was the one forward who stood out for the Warriors, hitting rucks again and again in an all action performance that eventually earnt him Man Of The Match.

The Barbarians had enough physicality up front and looked sharp in defense and it wasn’t long before Dylan Harris swept over for a try. It was the first of four as the Barbarians swept away, Simon Day got one back for Llanelli and a late try from Mark Lewis kept the Warriors in touch. Ronan Lewis and Alun Stephens scored for the Barbarians against their own club.
The 2nd half outstanding try was Bambi streaking away and outpacing Chip to score in the corner. It was a better half for the Warriors with Alun Stephens and Ronan Lewis scoring against their new club (!) and Ben Kitson joined them on the scoresheet but for Tenby. After missing two for the Warriors 1st half, Big Rhyd slotted to for the Barbarians, Simon Tarw got one conversion for the Warriors. The Warriors scoring was completed by Jamie Evans leaving a final score 37 27 (I think, we definitely scored 27 but didn’t think we were within 10 points at the end.

Anyway, it’s not all about the score, after a brief walk through windy Tenby, there was a warm welcome in the clubhouse and not one but 2 massive feeds!! Fair play to Flash for keeping to his diet. As mentioned earlier the Tom-inator Hall was man of the match but special mentions to Will Browne, Ben Kit, Sideshow Tom Ashour and Nathan Lawson.

Also as ever a thank you to Ref Charlie Watts, touch judge Jon Kerr, Gethin and the Barbarians and Tenby RFC.
We must have made a good impression because the Barbarians are now looking to set up an integrated team themselves: Pembrokeshire Pirates are on facebook and Pitchero now, check them out!!

Warriors XV: Lee Rowlands (Dylan Harris), Ben Kitson (Tom Ashour), Ben Winstanley, Dion Mitchell-Lewis (Liam Tobias), Simon Day (Ryan Morgan, Bobby Lewis, Jamie Evans, Huw Jenkins (Will Browne), Richard Evans, Mark Lewis (Alun Stephens), John Horwood (Darren Pollitt), Andrew Davies (Cpt) (Rhydian Williams), Nathan Lawson (Ronan Lewis), Tom Hall (Simon Jenkins), Gwilym Lewis
