Croeserw was never going to be the easiest team to overcome and so it proved once again as the Bog Wanderers again secured the result in a fine advert for social rugby with all players enjoying the encounter.
Croeserw showed their intent from the off, moving the ball from deep in their half and getting it wide whenever possible. Some hard work from wing Tom Ashour frustrated some early attempts but a score was inevitable and after waiting – two came along quickly with Wayne Dandinga getting the pick.
The Warriors took a while to get into the swing of things and weren’t helped with Jamie Evans having to leave the field. Debutants Mathew Ford and Jordan Jones showed up well though, giving some bite to the attack and defending solidly. Despite this improvement, Croeserw went further ahead through Lee Phillips.
The Warriors pressure finally paid when impressive referee John Brewer awarded a penalty try after Tom Hall forced a mistake. When the Warriors rucked well they had Croeserw back pedalling and it allowed Mark Lewis to score from close range, again Rhydian Williams cultured boot improved the score.
It wasn’t enough to halt the Wanderers though with Dandinga getting a second to keep them clear.
Although the Warriors couldn’t get another score there were plenty of positives for the Llanelli side. Colin Tacon found his line out targets, Darren Pollitt and Andrew Davies throughout, Ivan Albright ran well from full back and Richard Evans put himself about. Darren Pollitt was named man of the match having had to play much of the game at flanker.
It wasn’t enough though, Jacob Edwards getting Croeserw’s final try and new boy Richard Large slotted his 4th conversion.
