A last minute change of venue didn’t disrupt the Vikings who won out in this entertaining match at Burry Port to make it 6 straight victories.

Llanelli Warriors 29 Swansea Vikings 49.

They may have lost home advantage but that was about all they lost as they scored several fine tries in the spring sunshine. Rotating their large squad they were able to field a strong side but were perhaps flattered somewhat by the score. The Warriors played a full part in the match and for a couple of incidents they would have been a lot closer.

The Vikings started strongest but there was little in it. Decent set piece allowed them to maintain an early edge and some typical strong running from Tom Bos saw him cross twice to establish an early lead. The Warriors hit back after a deft kick and chase from Nathan Murphy but a third Vikings try on half time saw the visitors in command at the break.

The second half was closer. Ceri Arnold and Paul Martin put themselves about for the Vikings whilst Darren Pollitt and Tom Ashour stood out for the Warriors. The Warriors scored a fantastic try which went through phases and across the width of the field before Murphy squeezed in at the corner.
Bos and Fussell then scored similar tries, Daly breaking straight from a scrum, Fussell from a ruck to go in almost unopposed.
The Warriors were probably edging territory and looked likely to score but they conceded two tries from line outs, a slick move saw Hywel James break free and cross and then good disruption saw Connor Seabrook forced blind from where he should have disappeared into the Warriors pack but he emerged unscathed and crossed out wide. With Tom Seabrook also enjoying a good day with the boot the Vikings, who have only lost twice this term, were clear.
The Warriors of course battled to the end and a Ben Winstanley charge down resulted in Murphy getting his hatrick. Rhydian Williams completed the scoring with his 2nd conversion.

Another loss for the Warriors but some fine rugby played as they start a very busy month and gear up for their Pacific Tour.

Llanelli Warriors: Craig James, Tom Ashour, Ben Winstanley, Tom Edwards, Simon Day, Nathan Murphy, Luke Evans (Jamie Evans), Richard Taylor, Richard Evans (Cpt), Mark Lewis (Will Brown), John Horwood, (Rhydian Williams), Darren Pollitt, Jordan Jones (Adam Fussell), Adam Davies, Gareth Ladd (Gwilym Lewis).

Tries: Murphy (2), Fussell, Davies, Winstaley
Conversion Williams (2),
Warriors Man of the Match: Fussell.

Excellent effort but the Warriors club with the crucial help of Burry Port to not only get the game on at the last minute, but also have a match program, refreshments available, food after the game and even a raffle. Thanks to Carys, Diane and Gary Shed, Vanessa, Margaret and shopaholic Trevor!

A very credible result for the Warriors as the Vikings had won their previous 5 matches conceding just 17 points. Their last match was a 90 point victory.
Some good performances throughout the team, Captain Rich Evans said he didn't want to single out one player and had to be pushed to a short list of Sideshow, Fussy and Adam Davies. Fussy eventually getting the nod - poor Big Rhyd had to miss out this time, even though he played better than against the Eddas.

**A complaint from Ben Princess has been upheld - he scored one of the three tries claimed by Nathan Murphy, sorry Ben - can't be arsed to alter the review tho xxx
